They would then strip the goat hide into strips, dip them into sacrificial blood, and take to the streets, gently slapping both the women and crop fields with the goat hides. It seems they tried to “Christianize” the Pagan Celebration of Lupercalia, by changing it to a Valentine’s Day Festival Dedicated to Faunus, the Roman God of agriculture.
